 Pāre Loye Jāo Ᾱmāye: A Yearning in Lyric by Lalon Fakir

Pāre loye jāo āmāye

I remain on the bank, alone;

The Sun, he called it a day.

My plight, when it heightens –

Without Thee, I see no way.

I am a shoreless boat, a hapless one –

Take me across, O Merciful One!

I know not how to praise or worship Thee,

My mind, it ever goes down the dark alley.

I’ve heard the name of the Saviour of the Fallen,

And in His name, I beseech Thee earnestly –

I am a shoreless boat, a hapless one –

Take me across, O Merciful One!

If You don’t help this limbless one to move,

Thy Name will ever be tainted with ignominy!

Fakir Lalon says: O Saviour of the shoreless ones,

Who will speak of my plight to Thee?

I am a shoreless boat, a hapless one –

Take me across, O Merciful One!
