The Heroic Story of Koyappalli Kelappan Nair
Today (October 7) is the smriti dinam of Koyappalli Kelappan Nair. Widely revered as the maker of modern Kerala, he spent his entire life for the upliftment of Kerala’s culture and society.
A Gandhian in his early life, he served as the founder president of Nair Service Society and was a fearless mass leader who confronted Moplah rioters in Malabar. Being the hero of the temple entry Satyagraha, he was widely considered as the voice of Hindus of Malabar who fought tooth and nail for the revival of temples demolished by Tipu’s army. In every sense, he can be regarded as the true icon of Malayali Hindus.
