 देवालया विमुच्यन्ताम् (Let Hindu temples be liberated)

देवालया विमुच्यन्तां वर्ध्यतां तत्सुवैभवम्।

उद्घोष्यन्तां मनोभावा एकीभूय सगौरवम्॥१॥

devālayā vimucyantāṃ vardhyatāṃ tatsuvaibhavam।

udghoṣyantāṃ manobhāvā ekībhūya sagauravam॥1॥

Let the temples be liberated (from the government’s control). Let their glory rise. Let the sentiments/feelings (of the people) be collectively and emphatically declared. 

निःसार्यन्तां दुराचारा देवस्थानस्य चालने। 

सर्वकारस्य विभ्रष्टो हस्तक्षेपो निवार्यताम्॥२॥

niḥsāryantāṃ durācārā devasthānasya cālane।

sarvakārasya vibhraṣṭo hastakṣepo nivāryatām॥2॥

Let the corrupt practices in temple management be removed. Let the government’s useless intervention be removed.

वासस्थानं हि देवानाम् आयस्थानं न गण्यताम्।

सदोपयुज्यतां सम्यग्भक्तानामर्पणानि च॥३॥

vāsasthānaṃ hi devānām āyasthānaṃ na gaṇyatām।

sadopayujyatāṃ samyagbhaktānāmarpaṇāni ca॥3॥

Let the abode of Gods not be regarded as a source of revenue (for the government). Let the offerings of devotees be always used appropriately.

विधर्मीया निवार्यन्तां तत्प्रवेशो निषिध्यताम्।

चालनं मन्दिराणां हि भक्तहस्ते निधीयताम्॥४॥

vidharmīyā nivāryantāṃ tatpraveśo niṣidhyatām।

cālanaṃ mandirāṇāṃ hi bhaktahaste nidhīyatām॥4॥

Let all the followers of non-dharmic religions be removed (from the management of the temples). Let their entry (into the temples) be prohibited. Let the management of temples be placed in the hands of the devotees only.

आगमश्रु्तिनिर्दिष्टा नित्यपूजा प्रसाध्यताम्।

प्रतिस्थलं सदा सर्वो विशेषः परिपाल्यताम्॥५॥

āgamaśrutinirdiṣṭā nityapūjā prasādhyatām।

pratisthalaṃ sadā sarvo viśeṣaḥ paripālyatām॥5॥

Let the traditional daily prayer service be performed. At every temple, let all the local traditions (of that place) be followed and sustained.

भक्त्या सङ्गम्यतां सर्वैः श्रद्धया च समर्प्यताम्।

वन्द्यन्तामधिदेवाश्च वर्णभेदो ह्युपेक्ष्यताम्॥६॥

bhaktyā saṅgamyatāṃ sarvaiḥ śraddhayā ca samarpyatām।

vandyantāmadhidevāśca varṇabhedo hyupekṣyatām॥6॥

Let the differences along caste lines be disregarded. Let all the people gather with devotion and pray to the presiding deities. Let them offer with sincerity. 

गोप्यतां क्षेत्रसम्पत्तिर्धनधान्यं सुरक्ष्यताम्।

अमूल्यविग्रहा लुप्ता आनीयन्तां च सत्वरम्॥७॥

gopyatāṃ kṣetrasampattirdhanadhānyaṃ surakṣyatām।

amūlyavigrahā luptā ānīyantāṃ ca satvaram॥7॥

Let the temple’s property be protected. Let its money and grains be protected. Let all the invaluable looted idols be brought back immediately.

सुजीर्णदेववासानामुद्धारः सम्प्रपद्यताम्।

आनुकूल्यं च भक्तेभ्यः सङ्कल्प्यतां सुखावहम्॥८॥

sujīrṇadevavāsānāmuddhāraḥ samprapadyatām।

ānukūlyaṃ ca bhaktebhyaḥ saṅkalpyatāṃ sukhāvaham॥8॥

Let the renovation of all the ruined abodes of God be accomplished. Let amenities be provided for the comfort of the devotees.

सुगन्धिकुन्तलाम्बायाः प्रपौत्रेण समर्थ्यते।

अष्टश्लोक्यानया नूनं देवस्थानविमोचनम्॥९॥

sugandhikuntalāmbāyāḥ prapautreṇa samarthyate।

aṣṭaślokyānayā nūnaṃ devasthānavimocanam॥9॥

The movement to liberate the temples (from the government’s control) is supported by Sugandhikuntala’s great-grandson with his above eight-verse compilation.
