Ancient Madurai and Delhi in turmoil because of Injustice in Courts?

A parallel can be drawn between ancient Madurai and present day Delhi. Madurai was burnt by the curse of Kannagi who was wronged by the Court of the King. Today, we feel that Delhi is in turmoil because of certain orders by the Supreme Court’s 9 Judges bench formed to Review Sabarimala Judgement.

In the Legend, Kannagi who was wronged proves and protests the injustice, then curses the king and the city of Madurai leading to the death of the unjust Pandyan King of Madurai, who had wrongfully put her husband Kovalan to death. The society that had made her suffer, suffered in retribution as the city of Madurai is burnt to the ground because of her curse. Our deity also is awaiting a positive action by the Union of India to correct the injustice meted out to Him.

The ASSOCIATION OF FOUNDERS OF THE HINDU RELIGIOUS & CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS OF ANDHRA PRADESH, which represents many of the ancient Hindu Deities in the State of Andhra Pradesh as their legal representatives, in their letter to Hon’ble President, dated 14th Dec 2020 – very much prior to January 26, 2021- have tried to explain as follows –

“..We are deeply disturbed by the fact that the Hon’ble Supreme Court did not give an opportunity to Lord Chilkur Balaji Deity to be heard on a matter which concerns the rights of all Hindu Deities.

The petition of the Deity was rejected on Feb 10th by the Supreme Court Nine Judge bench and further, the main question of law on Hindu Deity Constitutional rights that arises from the Sabarimala Judgement of 28th Sept was ignored completely.

Our Judiciary has to introspect on the fact that from Feb 10th after the rejection of Deity petition, there has been only a single sitting of less than an hour by the Supreme Court Nine Judge Bench till date. We feel in the future, a petition of such nature should be dealt with a lot more seriousness by the Judiciary which has a major role to play in the protection of Dharma as per our Constitution.

Our Nation should never forget the fact that if adharma wins over dharma in a Court of law the entire society suffers as demonstrated by the history of Goddess Kannagi and the impact on Madurai the then capital city. It is in this context that the guidance of Lord Chilkur Balaji Deity should be viewed as a reminder that we are still governed by the same law of Dharma even if we call ourselves a Secular State.

One of the wrong conclusions in the 28th Sept Sabarimala judgment is that “Hindu Deities have no Constitutional rights” which is against the very soul of our ancient civilization.”

Supreme Court of India which has in its emblem यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः has correctly observed: “In the adharma flowing from the wrong decision in a Court of law, one fourth each is attributed to the person committing the adharma, witness, the judges and the ruler”.

धर्मेण हन्यते व्याधिः हन्यन्ते वै तथा ग्रहाः । धर्मेण हन्यते शत्रुः यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः ॥ It is by following dharma that we gain victory over diseases is the advice of Mahabharatha. At a time when our Nation is facing its biggest crisis in the form of Covid-19, China issue, Nepal issue and Economy the above advise is very significant

We request on behalf of crores of devotees to Hon’ble President who is the representative of Nation’s Dharma to ensure that his reference of Art 363 Constitutional Morality (Dharma) Chilkur Balaji Art 26 Deity Rights dispute is resolved expeditiously.
